A trust portal exists to answer the security questionnaire once, for everyone. Write it down, publish it, stop answering the same 200 questions one deal at a time.

35 of the companies in this study built one.

23 publish it openly. Nine put the documents behind a request. Three gate the portal itself — one of them behind a counter-signed NDA.

That last group did the work and then made every buyer ask for it anyway. The questionnaire did not go away; it just moved to an access-request form.

None of this is a security judgment. Some of the most careful companies in the sample are in that twelve, and a gate is a reasonable choice if you have a reason for it. But it is worth knowing what it costs you, and worth checking that the reason is still the reason.
